Hatkay was built on a simple idea: Indian ethnic wear should be easy to access, fairly priced, and available to women everywhere.
From wedding celebrations and festive gatherings to cultural events and family occasions, we create outfits designed to help women stay connected to their roots, no matter where they live.
Today, Hatkay serves customers across more than 70 countries, offering a wide range of Indian ethnic wear with custom sizing, international shipping, and in-house manufacturing.
How It Started
Hatkay was founded in 2014 by Sartaz Sumra and Ahmed Bidiwala while they were still first-year college students in Surat.
Growing up in one of India’s largest textile hubs, they saw an opportunity to connect Surat’s craftsmanship with customers around the world. What started as a small export business supplying custom-stitched outfits to international retailers soon evolved into something much bigger.
In 2016, Hatkay launched its retail website and began serving customers directly. As orders grew, so did the business, expanding from a small operation into a global ethnic wear brand trusted by customers across continents.
Built In-House
By 2026, Hatkay established its own manufacturing setup, allowing complete control over the production process.
From sourcing fabrics and developing designs to stitching and finishing, every stage is managed by our team. This helps us maintain quality standards, offer greater customization, and keep our pricing accessible.
Today, Hatkay is powered by a team of more than 25 people who continue to build on the same values the company started with.
